Microbiological quality of frozen black mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis, Lamarck, 1819) purchased from markets in the İzmir Province of Turkey

The purpose of this study was to examine the microbiological quality and consumer safety frozen black mussels purchased from four different markets (A, B, C, D) in İzmir Province Turkey. A total 36 mussel packages, which contained approximately 50 each, were markets. They not only examined for mesophilic, psychrotrophic, coliform fecal bacteria count but also investigated pathogenic such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes Vibrio spp. According results mesophilic counts, did exceed limits set safe consumption. findings showed that human consumption because species E.coli, Salmonella spp., S. L. present samples.
